The popularity of the video streaming service Twitch has become a problem for its creators — the more people use it; the more chances are that someone will not meet modern standards of ethics and morality. And — oh god! He will use a black face in his videos, make lewd comments, or even — no, it is simply impossible — will show the Stars and Bars.
Twitch is a video streaming service specializing in computer games, including gameplay and esports tournaments. Videos on the Twitch platform can be watched both live and on request.
But luckily for all of us, this world came up with policy. Therefore, Twitch recently introduced its new policy of “countering aggression and incitement to hatred”. It will become operative on January 22nd and all content created from that day will be judged under the new rules.
So, there are three groups of violations, due to which streamers may soon lose their channels:
- Incitement to hatred. This item included references to race, ethnicity, color, caste, national origin, immigration status, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness, and veteran status.
- Skin color ridicule and racism. Videos are now prohibited from displaying black, brown, yellow, or red complexions unless explicitly educational in context. The ban also includes the Stars and Bars, which with the filing of the Black Lives Matter movement has become a symbol of slavery and white supremacy.
- Compliments. Twitch will prohibit commenting on someone’s attractiveness, even as a compliment. Punishment may be received for a combination of emoji in chat, even without additional text.

It is interesting that the excuses that the «victim» falsely accuses his «offender» or tries to draw attention to his person with a scandal will be regarded as persecution.

It is unclear how Twitch is going to monitor the millions of gigabytes of video, checking it for conformity with its regulations. Consciousness creates an army of censors who check every frame of uploaded content. At the same time, as we all know, there are female streamers in the game sections of Twitch, for whom the main goal is to sell themselves. But, as you can see, the Twitch management is not interested.
Or they are totally okay with that.
Woha!
