Analytical company ScreenEngine / ASI (it turns out there exists such) has published a list of the most watched new films of this coronavirus season — i.e. 2020. The rating was compiled on the basis of the opinions of 1,200 American users of streaming platforms aged 13–64 years. Not without surprises!
Top winners
At the top of the charts, as expected, were films of the «lightest» genre: comedy and action films. For example, the first place was taken by Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical «Hamilton: The Movie», which was released on Disney + in the summer. In second place is the main premiere of Amazon Prime Video — the scandalous sequel «Borat 2: Subsequent Moviefilm» by Sasha Baron Cohen. The third place went to the action comedy with Dave Batista «My Spy».

Top losers
At the same time, anti-ratings are already being drawn up. For example, critics and viewers have already expressed their displeasure with Netflix, the main provider of online content. Thus, the movie «Rebecca» and the TV series «Emily in Paris» have become the most disastrous projects of Netflix. The authors of the rating called the adaptation of «Rebecca» empty, and «Emily in Paris» was accused of portraying the French as «terrible snobs».
In addition, Ryan Murphy’s Hollywood series, Space Force, Insatiable, Away series, What / If thriller, Marco Polo historical television series, The Kissing Booth, Brain on Fire, Secret Obsession films etc.
To the point
Earlier it was reported that the new film by Robert Zemeckis «Roald Dahl’s The Witches (2020)», which, in turn, is a remake of the 1990 film of the same name, has already managed to anger someone. People with disabilities, including Paralympic champions, apparently due to the large amount of free time, condemned the film for the offensive portrayal of the main characters’ limbs. According to community representatives, the use of physical handicaps at the hands of witches offended people with disabilities.
